Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position is responsible for effectively managing recruiting needs of the Residential and Commercial division of ASP INC.  This has several impacts on the business, which are as follows:

  • Ensure hiring quality candidates for the vacant positions on a timely basis
  • Ensure hiring process is completed in advance, while monitoring future needs with the turnaround time for an on-boarded employee (clearance delays, training schedules, etc.)
  • Develop a positive working relationship with the Residential and Commercial Management Team while coordinating all paperwork/vetted applications
  • Ensure a complete hiring process from setting up and conducting interviews to the on-boarding of the employee to including personnel file completeness
  • To liaise with internal management on staffing levels
  • To liaise with employees on expectations, job description, and other information pertinent to the position they're applying
  • Provide necessary follow-up with all parties (employees and management)
  • Complete investigations related to hiring practices and ensure corrective actions are communicated, implemented and sustained
  • Liaise with Management to familiarize with individual site requirements such as training and experience


Job Knowledge

  • Knowledgeable of the contents of the General Orders
  • Carries copy while on duty and follows the guidelines contained therein
  • Knowledgeable of the contents of Post Orders and Duty Briefings for all client posts
  • Knowledgeable of all Legal Authorities pertaining to duties
  • Knowledgeable of the Private Investigators and Security Guards Act - including all applicable regulations and guidelines pertaining to working as a Security Guard in the Province of Ontario
  • Knowledgeable of company ISO 9001 QPM and QSP Manuals and associated forms
  • Individual client requirements for each site

Public Relations

  • Able to interact effectively with all A.S.P. Incorporated and affiliate employees
  • Able to interact effectively with all site client representatives and management
  • Able to interact effectively with all co-workers and A.S.P. Incorporated management
  • Able to interact effectively with tenants and visitors at all clients
  • Able to interact effectively with the general public
  • Able to interact effectively with public officials


  • 3-5 years of recruiting experience with a minimum of 2 years in physical security recruitment
  • Post-secondary education is preferred
  • Knowledge of Employment Law
  • Strong sourcing and online social media recruitment skills
  • Solid background in behavioral based interviewing assessment techniques
  • Ability to recruit for a high volume of positions for all branches across Canada
  • Excellent communication, polished presentation, organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Excellent technical/computer skills in MS Word and Excel is required, along with recruiting software/online tools
  • A valid G class driver's license with own vehicle
  • Flexibility - a willingness to travel and work irregular hours


  • Establishes recruiting requirements by studying organization plans and objectives
  • Meeting with managers to discuss needs
  • Builds applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites
  • Providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits
  • Making presentations; maintaining rapport
  • Setup, book and execute various Job Fairs around the GTA
  • Research and create specific job descriptions for external job postings
  • Determines applicant requirements by studying job description and job qualifications
  • Attracts applicants by placing job advertisements; contacting recruiters, using newsgroups and job sites, cold calling potential applicants
  • Determines applicant qualifications by interviewing applicants; analyzing responses; verifying references; comparing qualifications to job requirements
  • Evaluates applicants by discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with managers; interviewing applicants on consistent set of qualifications
  • Improves organization attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices; monitoring job offers and compensation practices; emphasizing benefits and perks
  • Developing KPI's for Senior Management
  • Avoids legal challenges by understanding current legislation; enforcing regulations with managers; recommending new procedures
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations

  • Maintains personal hygiene in an appropriate and above average manner

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a full Ontario Driver's License with no restrictions
  • Must have a clean driver's abstract
  • Must be Bondable
  • Good knowledge of job descriptions for positions hiring for
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Minimum of 2 years employment with A.S.P. incorporated and/or one of the following requirements:
    • Previous Security Recruiting experience
    • Sufficient prior industry related experience (i.e. Police, Military, and Security)
    • Formal law enforcement training or Diploma
    • HR Background
  • Must complete company Quality Assurance program orientation
  • Must have the ability to discriminate among standard colours
  • Must have the ability to hear conversation of ordinary loudness at 15 feet with each ear
  • Must have binocular vision correctable to 20/30
  • Must be able to deal with difficult persons on a regular basis
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including nights and rotations
  • Must be able to work overtime


  • Reports directly to the Human Resources Manager
